From article on Greenpeace and Food and Water Watch asking Walmart to stop selling GMO Bt Corn... is Walmart owned by the same elite group of families that own the banking system and the giant food/ chemical corporations?
That second point is still a sore spot for many grassroots consumer advocates. For the past two decades, Monsanto has been able to finance America’s elected officials enough that not only is it not required for manufacturers to label food as genetically modified, it’s actually illegal in some instances for safe products to promote the fact that they are not genetically modified.
Monsanto Corp. has never been known as a friend of humanity. According to a recent article in Before it’s News, Monsanto is the company that brought the world such products as Agent Orange, the super-toxin dioxin, recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH), and of course, genetically modified food.
A quick search of recent Monsanto headlines shows the corporation hasn’t changed its business model. Like a real-world Doctor Evil, the company has somehow managed to take control of almost the entire world’s corn production. Only one country on Earth still has natural corn varieties not destroyed or infected by Monsanto’s laboratory-produced products. That country is the birthplace of corn – Mexico.
Read the 2011 Whiteout Press article, ‘Global Attacks on Genetically Modified Food Experiments’ to read about some of the underground efforts underway to stop Monsanto.
The secondary complaint typically leveled at Monsanto is that their so-called ‘franken-food’ has been genetically altered to be dominant over natural food. In corn fields the world over, Monsanto’s modified corn seeds spread to neighboring farms through natural methods like wind, rain and animals. There, they cross-breed with the natural corn fields, thus becoming Monsanto fields. The corporation has successfully sued thousands of unsuspecting farmers for allegedly ‘stealing’ Monsanto’s seeds.
Another Doctor Evil aspect of Monsanto’s modified products is the way they function and the reason for their perceived value. Monsanto produces the famed ‘Round-up’ pesticide and fertilizer line. The trick is that the genetically modified corn seeds, as well as the fertilizer and pesticides, have been altered to work in combination with each other. Without one component, none of them will work.
On a Monsanto-dependent farm, here’s how the process works.
Monsanto produces genetically-modified corn seeds in their laboratory and sells them to farmers throughout the world.
Special and unique Monsanto fertilizer is required to make the corn grow, where it grows much bigger and taller than natural corn, also without any natural imperfections. If you’ve ever bought a can of corn from the store, you’ve noticed how every kernel looks identical in size, shape and color. You’ll also notice the absence of any flavor. Corn manufacturers have been breeding their corn to turn out like that for years. Monsanto-altered corn now perfects that goal. Without Monsanto’s fertilizer, the Monsanto corn will wither and die.
To protect the Monsanto corn from bugs, mold and other natural predators, farmers must buy and spray Monsanto pesticide. The chemical make-up of the company’s patented and ultra-deadly pesticide is such that it kills practically everything it touches, except Monsanto corn and human beings. The pesticides were specifically designed to have that unique effect.
The pay-off for Monsanto is the fact that all three stages of their products cost vastly more than any other seeds, fertilizer and pesticide on the market. But since Monsanto corn genes are dominant over natural corn, the result is that the world’s corn farmers are now slaves to Monsanto, unable to plant any other type of corn but theirs. Again, Mexico is the only nation left on Earth where natural, un-infected corn varieties still exist. And at the rate they’re vanishing, those fields and the dozens of rare and unique types of corn Mexico provides, will vanish as well.
In India alone, farmer suicides have reached epidemic proportions due to Monsanto. One major reason is that Indian farmers were forced to go into debt to be able afford the expensive Monsanto seeds and accompanying products. One small drop in corn prices or corn futures proved too much for the financially-strapped farmers. They’ve been committing suicide by the thousands for the last few years. Other Monsanto products are accused of being responsible for additional outbreaks of farmer suicides as well.

Please God keep Australian food real.
I cannot take sugar - it makes me very ill, i will get migraine that
lasts for days from even a tiny amount of sugar. I would collapse,
become unconscious if i ate a dessert. So, i make it a practice to
always read labels on everything. At home I make all our own sauces,
dressings, chutneys, pastes and always buy fresh local and ever
possible, organic produce. Travel ing is a challenge. Food is not
always what it appears to be.
In the US, I found "creamer" for tea and coffee that had no dairy in
it all. It was made from soy and cottonseed oil plus chemicals. In
addition, soy in the USA is highly likely to be genetically modified.
So we eliminated "creamer" from our diet.
The "honey" was not actually honey, it was "honey flavored" spread.
I needed a quick breakfast before one flight last week and requested
egg on toast from a small food stall at an airport. I was served with
a perfectly square yellow, rubbery thing on a piece of sweet shiny
synthetic looking bread. I picked up the square yellow thing, wobbled
it in the air and asked John "is this supposed to be egg?" It looked
more like a frisbee.
Rye bread last week arrived on my plate white with a swirl of dark
brown through it. The swirl of dark brown was very sweet, it appeared
to be a molasses swirl through white bread. So we don't order "rye"
bread in America any more.
The manufacturers of Roundup Ready corn and other grain products are
now finding that mother nature is beginning to develop an immunity to
Roundup, so they now want to develop Agent Orange Ready grain
products. They want farmers to be able to drench their crops with
Agent Orange to kill off the weeds that may try to grow in a farmers
crop. Humans will then be fed the harvested grain from those crops.
I foolishly thought that governments had learnt how dangerous Agent
Orange was when soldiers who returned from Vietnam began producing
babies with birth defects!
We see what is called food for human consumption being mutilated by
greedy corporations whose only consideration is how to squeeze an
extra buck out of people.
We cannot trust the food "manufactured" by ruthless corporations and
then sold through equally greedy supermarkets. Large farms are
dictated to by the supermarkets and the farmers who supply them must
do what the supermarkets want in order to survive.
It is no wonder that people are turning in increasing numbers to small
boutique farmers at farm shops and farmers markets around the world.
It is no wonder that supermarkets feel threatened by farmers markets
and are trying to close them down , and in some countries succeeding.
We need small farmers now to provide us with "real" food. We need farm
shops and farmers markets to stay true to their values, to not become
seduced by monetary gain, so we can continue to trust and believe in
Please God save farm shops and farmers markets.
It is encouraging to see the growth around the western world of people
wanting to grow their own vegetables and raise chickens in their back
yards. We are returning to the core values of our parents and our
grand parents. We want to connect again with nature and the source of
our food. We have to. We can't trust our governments to protect us
from the corporations that now control our food chains. We can't
trust the information they send us, we now are returning to gleaning
information as our grandparents did from friends, from clubs, from our
own network. Is it any wonder people are turning to the Internet for
information on how to grow veg, how to build a chicken run, how to
please God save our food sources and please God save our planet from
destruction by greedy corporations and power hungry governments, so
that there is a planet still there for our grandchildrens
very seriously dressed mountain bikers take the gondola to the top of
the mountain and then bike it back down again at Whistler in summer.
There must be thousands of bikers here. We had a very enjoyable spot
on the mountain top for lunch.
